CODEGRIP Station Mode Settings

Overview

This section explains how to configure CODEGRIP Station Mode settings for connecting the device to an existing wireless network.

Problem

Users may encounter issues when connecting CODEGRIP to a WiFi network if parameters such as SSID, security type, or IP configuration are not correctly set. Proper understanding of each setting is required to ensure a stable connection.

Answer

Below are the detailed descriptions for each Station Mode setting:

  • SSID

    • Description: The WiFi network identifier.

    • Details: This string must exactly match the SSID of the network to which CODEGRIP is attempting to connect.

  • Password

    • Description: The passphrase for the target WiFi network.

    • Details: Required if the selected network uses authentication.

  • Secure Type

    • Description: Defines the wireless security protocol.

    • Options:

      • Open

      • WEP

      • WPA/WPA2

    • Note: The selected type must match the protocol used by the target WiFi network.

  • IP Settings

    • Description: Determines how the device obtains its IP configuration.

    • Options:

      • Use following static IP addresses — allows manual entry of network parameters (IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, DNS).

      • Obtain IP address automatically — enables DHCP, where the network assigns all necessary parameters. The manual IP fields will be disabled if this option is selected.

  • IP Address

    • Description: The static IP address of the CODEGRIP device when manual configuration is used.

    • Details: Ensure no duplicate IP addresses exist on the same WiFi network to avoid conflicts.

Additional Notes

  • The SSID must match exactly (case-sensitive). Incorrect SSID values will prevent connection.

  • When entering a Password, double-check characters to avoid failed authentication.

  • Use WPA2 whenever possible, as it is more secure than WEP.

  • If choosing Static IP settings, confirm the following parameters:

    • IP Address (unique to the device)

    • Subnet Mask (must match the network)

    • Default Gateway (usually the router IP)

    • DNS (can be router IP or external DNS, e.g., 8.8.8.8)

  • If unsure, select Obtain IP address automatically to let the network’s DHCP server handle configuration.

Example Configuration Table

Setting Example Value Description
SSID OfficeWiFi Must match the wireless network name exactly
Password SecurePass22 Required if security protocol is WEP/WPA/WPA2
Secure Type WPA2 Security protocol of the target WiFi network
IP Settings Automatic DHCP assigns IP, gateway, and DNS
IP Address 192.168.1.55 Only used when static IP is selected; must be unique within the network
